We’re a group of residents who live in the Wish Park area who have got together to celebrate and improve the Wish Park area.
We formed the group when we were given a grant from the council to hold a party when the first Brighton Marathon took place in 2010.
Since then we have held an annual Party in the Park every year for local people which have been lots of fun for everyone with activities for children, bring and share lunch and a tea party with amazing cakes.
In addition, with some support from The Healthy Neighbourhood Fund and Brighton and Hove Food Partnership, we have raised funding for our very own community garden which allows residents to take part in growing vegetables and eating them.
We have also been responsible for Wish Hills and the Orchard, two areas neighbouring each other in the north-west side of the park. The Wish Hills are a dedicated wild flower area and a much-needed bit of height to the park, plus an integral path allowing access deeper into the park for people with limited mobility. We’ve seen the installation of the Stag Beetle hotel and a Bee Bar to attract more insect life to the park, in conjunction with our park ranger friends at Brighton and Hove council.
For more information on either the Community Garden or the Wish Hills, please see the additional pages.
We’ve held amazing Halloween events in the park as well as in previous years taking part in the Big Dig – including food prepared by the Community Chef grown in the community garden.
We’re also pleased to have been involved throughout in the planning of the fantastic new children’s playpark which has been installed in Wish Park. It has become a fantastic resource for Hove families.
We have been pleased to back Carla and Mark in the setting up of the lovely Wish Café which has transformed the park providing delicious coffee and snacks.
We love our park and hope you do too. Come along and get involved and meet your local community.
