Brighton and Hove council have kindly offered funding to streets in West Hove to hold a street party on 18 April. This is to coincide with the first Brighton and Hove marathon which will be taking place all around our area.
Zoe and Paul Chinman delivered leaflets to all the local houses and invited interested residents to come to a meeting on Sunday Feb 28.
They kindly allowed us to meet in their house in Saxon Road and provided refreshments.
Over 30 people attended the meeting with everyone feeling very enthusiastic and there are clearly lots of ideas on what we want to do.
After lots of discussion, the majority of people felt we wanted to hold a party in Marine Avenue, using the adjoining streets if needed. We all wanted a shared meal, some music and some fun events planned.
We agreed to put in a joint application to Brighton and Hove council to hold a street party for the streets surrounding Wish Park. These roads are Saxon Road, Norman Road, Tandridge Road, Tennis Road, Marine Avenue and Wish Road.
We’ve completed the application. Read it below and we’ve opened a bank account. It was sent to the council on Friday 11 March.
